I'll admit it's been too long since my last post. I started this post as something to keep me going, but things happen and I forget. Sorry about that. For the two of you that ever followed this post, and if you're still around.
If you're still here and reading let me give you something to sit on. A good friend of mine and I recently sat down and spoke. No we didn't talk about girls, cars, the last wrestling match, or that kitten video from online. We don't talk about that stuff because it's boring. We spoke about great things. Not things that were great, but instead the idea behind great things and how few there are today. It reminded me of something I heard once,
"Good is the enemy of Great."
My friend had a dire enmity towards things that go "straight to YouTube" as he puts it. And I can't blame him for hating such things. Once we reflected on some of the video artists out there we shared our opinions on them. We found that they were good...but not great. It all came down to the idea of having no limits. Something I believe is terribly stupid. No limits right? That's what all great artists have right? You're suppose to realize that there are no limits so that you can take yourself higher and do great things right?
Yes and no.
Yes and no.
An essential step in becoming a better artist you have to realize the limits that initially surround you are not your own, but it doesn't end there. No limits make you good, not great. Great comes when you make your own limits. When you establish rules and laws that you personally live by and living by these borders is what can truly make you unique, what can help you make and do great things. So don't go about the world with no rules and no limits. Grasping after infinite ends will only exhaust your limited mortal energy. The end result?
Good at best.
And everyone has already done that.
